§ 24-51. Responsibility for care of piping and fixtures; notice to repair.

  • (a)

    Persons taking water from the city shall keep their service pipes and all fixtures connected therewith in good repair and protected from frost, at their own expense, and shall prevent all unnecessary waste of water.

    (b)

    The director of public works shall have power to notify any owner of property, if known, or if the owner is not known or does not reside in the city then the tenant of such property, to make such repairs, changes or additions in the pipes and fixtures of any house so owned or occupied. No person shall fail or refuse for more than five (5) days after such notice is given to obey such notice. The director of public works may turn off the water until such repairs have been made and all repair and water bills paid.
