§ 24-66. Required; purchase; installation and maintenance.

  • (a)

    Water meters shall be attached to all service lines. Owners of premises shall pay for the meter and all expenses of installing the meter. The public works department will, in all cases, install the meter, and will collect therefor in advance, including the expense of attaching the meter. The meter shall remain under the control of the city, which will make all the necessary repairs to the same from time to time, free of any expenses or costs to the owner, except in cases of misuse or abuse of such meter where the expenses of maintenance will be charged to the owner.

    (b)

    Meters both within and without the city, with the exception of meters installed by water companies purchasing water from the city, shall be purchased from the city, and no meters purchased or acquired from any other source shall be used at any time.
